crear un repositorio de documentos accesibles por el internet
sobre la familia Ron, basado en materiales que he acumulado y
que lectores de esta página me remitan. Espero poder proveer
estos documentos en el lenguaje original (generalmente en español)
y en inglés. Segundamente, quisiera someter varias preguntas
que tengo sobre la familia Ron, esperando que alguien pueda suministrarme
respuestas.
Dado el esfuerzo requerido para digitizar y traducir todos los

Introducción
Basado en lo que he podido encontrar, la familia Ron originó
en España, en la región occidental del Reino de
Asturias (hoy el Principado de Asturias) y tambien tuvo asiento
en el Reino de Galicia, ambos ubicados en extremo noroeste de
la península Ibérica. Es una familia noble antigua
que casó con muchas otras familias nobles de la región,
incluyendo familias de varios condes y marqueses. Entre estos
se encuentran: el Marques de Rivas, el Conde de Miranda, el Conde
de Peñalva, el Conde de Aguilar, el Conde de Toreno, el
Marques de los Vélez, el Marques de Molina, el Marques
de Mirallo, y el Marques de Astorga
. Los Rones tambien aparecen en el tronco originario de varias
familias de renombre, como la de Fajardo, Bedmar, y Sotomayor,
y son familiares de varias otras familias nobles, como la de
Olloniego, Saavedra, Quiros, Balboa, Queipo del Llano, Tineo,
Ibias, y Cabeza de Vaca.
La familia Ron proclama decendencia de Ferrandus, el cacique
Asturiano que combatió a Cesar Agusto por los años
20 A.C.. Un decendiente de Ferrandus, Toribio Fernandez de Ron
y sus tres hijos lucharon con el Rey Pelayo (quien era primo
de Toribio) en la batalla de Covadonga, donde en A.D. 713 los
moros invasores fueron derrotados por primera vez. Desde la decada
de los 1520 el apellido Ron se convierte en un título
hereditario, asumido por el heredero de Mayorazgo de Ron como
su primer apellido. Detalles de estos eventos historicos se pueden

La palabra "Ron" se escribe propiamente en español
con acento en la "o" (o sea, Rón). El acento
es generalmente suprimido porque Ron contiene una sola letra
vocal y consiste de una sola sílaba, y por lo tanto el
énfasis es evidente. Sin embargo, existen varios documentos
en los cuales el acento es usado.
Otros Rones
EL apellido Ron fue adoptado en este siglo por varios judios
que emigraron a Israel. La palabra "ron" aparentemente
significa "feliz" en Hebreo, y fue adopdado por estos
como señal de que estaban felices al haber vuelto a la
Tierra Santa, y para desechar sus apellidos Europeos.

Statement
of Purpose
The purpose of this web site is twofold: First, I would like
to create a repository of on-line documents related to the Ron
family based on the materials that I have accumulated and that
viewers of this site may send me. I hope to be able to provide
these documents both in the original language (which will usually
be Spanish) and in English. Second, I would like to post several
questions that I have related to the Ron family in the hope that
someone could provide me with answers.
Given the effort required to digitize and translate all the materials,
I expect that this task should take some time. For the aid of
surfers of this site, I intend to keep track of progress by displaying
a site version number and date of revision.
Introduction
Based on what I have been able to find, the Ron family originated
in Spain, in the western region of the Kingdom of Asturias (today
the Principate of Asturias) and also had a seat in the Kingdom
of Galicia, both located in the extreme northwestern side of
the Iberian penninsula. It is an ancient noble family that married
into many other noble families of the region, including the families
of several counts and marquises. Among these are: the Marques
of Rivas, the Count of Miranda, the Count of Peñalva,
the Count of Aguilar, the Count of Toreno, the Marques de los
Vélez, the Marques of Molina, the Marques of Mirallo,
and the Marques of Astorga
. The Rones were also in the originating trunk of several
renowned families such as the Fajardo, the Bedmar, and the Sotomayor,
and are related to a variety of other noble families, such as
the Olloniego, Saavedra, Quiros, Balboa, Queipo del Llano, Tineo,
Ibias, and Cabeza de Vaca.
The Ron family claims as its progenitor the Asturian Chieftain
Ferrandus, who fought Augustus Caesar in the 20's B.C.. A descendant
of Ferrandus, Toribio Fernandez de Ron and his three sons fought
alongside King Pelayo (who was Toribio's cousin) in the Battle
of Covadonga, where in A.D. 713 the invading Moors were first
defeated. Since the 1520's, the Ron name becomes a hereditary
title, assumed by the heir to the Ron Mayorazgo as his primary
surname. Details of these historical events can be obtained in
the Documents Section of this site, particularly in the english
translation of the book THE RON HOUSE.
The word "Ron" in Spanish is properly spelled with
an accent on the "o" (i.e., Rón). The accent
mark is generally omitted because having a single vowel and syllable
this indication of stress can be considered redundant. It is,
however, written in this manner in some documents.
Other Rones
The surname Ron was adopted in this century by a number of Jews
who emigrated to Israel. Ron apparently means "joyous"
in Hebrew, and was adopted by these individuals as a sign that
they were happy to return to the Holy Land, and to shed their
European surnames.
